The Lucid story really began in October 2015, when my wife Krishna and I held our first Dosa stall at Burleigh Markets. Krishna had made Dosa (South Indian savoury crepes) since she was a young girl learning from her mother in India. From that time we became regulars at the Currumbin Sanctuary Markets, Miami Marketta, Murwillumbah, Byron and Mullum markets. From 2017 we also were offered a regular spot at the Byron Bluesfest.

While doing our dosa stall we were regularly asked the question, “Do you guys have a restaurant somewhere?” Gradually our answer became, “No, but we’re considering it.”

In mid 2017, we began to think more seriously about a restaurant, and gradually the idea for Lucid was born – a restaurant where we could serve our Dosas, plus lots of other vegetarian dishes that we loved.

We hadn’t originally planned to have the restaurant at a shopping centre, but when we inquired about the space at the front of Sunnyside Mall, the owners were very enthusiastic and encouraged us in many ways to make the space work.

We had a blank slate to work with, and were able to create a restaurant and kitchen space exactly according to our vision. It was also important to us that we could create the restaurant according to the ancient science of Vastu, which harmonises the different elements of the space, ensuring the food that is cooked has a harmonious vibration.

We are so grateful to everyone who has come to Lucid and made our dream a reality. We invite you to come and try our menu and enjoy the unique experience of Lucid Pure Vegetarian.
